AIDS 2020; Virtual, A Meeting Where Key Populations are Welcome

Come be part of us. We could not believe it when we put ourselves through a hard eligibility criteria through which one becomes a delegate of the AIDS Conference.

We had to have a person who was well trained in research work. Then, we were mobilised into a cohesive group of key informants with the task of reaching out to others. We did nit just reach out for sake of it! We had to align our work with the vision: refugee integration on local host communities; end to TB/HIV/Malaria by 2030 integrating COVID-19; Elimination of violence against women; adopting UN Observances to continue raising awareness and focus around quality life influences; strategic public health awareness, promotion and advocacy. We had to get down to it!

We are so thrilled that refugees can now be part of the AIDS 2020 Conference.

The AIDS 2020: Virtual conference is a gathering which will take place online and all the people have a common interest or background in eradicating HIV, TB and Malaria. This will allow them to meet one another and to learn about and discuss issues, ideas and work that focus on issues, themes and topics of mutual concern.

It is the world's largest conference on HIV/AIDS.

AIDS 2020: Virtual will be held on 6th July to 10th July 2020

Advocacy Network Africa-AdNetA, Nature Network Group, Most at Risk Populations Society in Uganda, Kangemi Refugee Self-help Community Group, Rainbow Networks Africa, Refugee Spectrum Empowerment Community, Wave of Legacy Alliance Initiative, Pride-Malaria Uganda, Centre For HIV Care, Prevention and Education Promotion, Online Trauma, Identity, Sexuality, Suicide Prevention Support Services, Marginalised Refugee Empowerment Programme Africa, The Ganda Cultural Troupe, PUK Shelter, Refugee Organization for Security and Co-operation in East Africa, Kakuma Prism Alliance, Refugee Action Initiative, Refugee Independence Support Organisation, well-wishers and other organizations provided support and voices that made this possible.

We were able to contribute the refugee voice to the science, policy and research.

We are bringing voices from Black LGBTIQQ Refugees, Black LGBTIQQ living with HIV, Young Black Youth anti- AIDS Activists, Anti-TB Champions integrating COVID-19 response, Elimination of violence against Women activists and end to TB, HIV and Malaria by 2030 Activists.

The benefits for the AIDS 2020: Virtual are many. It will provide round-the-clock access to the latest research, science and policy. All these will be accessible on your time and at your fingertips.
One will be able to view a daily 24 hour plenary speaker schedule.

Plenary sessions feature the world's most distinguished HIV scientists, policy specialists, and community leaders.
There will be a COVID-19 related information session too.
There are lots ways to get involved.
Remember this is a profile of resilience and breaking barriers.

Celebrating International Day of Living Together In Peace,16th May 2020

We are so happy to celebrate WALAI team, animating "living together in peace!" After the recently concluded COVID-19 Loser Africa "Do No Harm" Campaign, we resolved to create Prevention Communities of Best Practices. We want to make our communities tolerate us. We join hands and hope this relationship will be built around creating and owning self esteem narratives as CBO groups willing to "take health in their hands!" We hope that all other LGBTIQQ leaders will be pleased to support our narrative. Our appeal goes out to some out there who are prone to toxicity and negativity for once to think harder.
