COVID-19 and Daily Activities of Life

RESTRICTIONS: Now that we are living under restrictions which in turn curtail our mobility, we need to do a self-assessment. Your position and station in life matters and sets the stage for the health promoting (or retrograding) practices/behaviours. These in turn either expose or protect one against COVID-19.

HOUSEHOLD: A home is the basic structure from which many are provided subsistence. Other places are prisons, army barracks, ships and camps. In other words all these places bring humans in contact with each other. Unavoidable contact! The best thing is to maintain a higher standard of hygiene habits. Wash your hands as soon as you wake up with soap, wash your body and clean up your bedding. This is the simplest yet most important start of the day activity.

COUGH: If you blow your nose or cough cover the mouth and nose. Adopt the habit of moving around with pocket hand sanitizer, disposable wipes or tissues. It is easy to remain sanitized. It is also easy to keep a distance when you venture out of your home.

SHOPPING: When you go out of your home, wear a mask, have gloves handy in your pocket or bag if you have gone out shopping. Those surfaces you touch or the money you handle may be harbouring germs which you may carry back home. If you feel like it keep wearing your gloves or take them off but when you get back home, wash those hands with soap. Have the shopped items ferried to a staging area, and then wipe your bag with a strong detergent.

ENTER A HOME: Wash your hands. Take off your shoes and leave them outside on the sun or on a door mat dipped previously in detergent. Yes, have your door-mats dipped in detergent so that you can wipe you shoe sole on them. This kills germs lodged in the grooves.

RECREATION: Lock down does not mean, you cannot engage in sports or recreation of sorts. Avoid games that require tackling. But all in all, if you are doing sports at home, do so at a place away from glasses, or sharp surfaces. We do not want you getting all bruised and then you get hospitalized. When you are done with any outdoor recreation stow away all kits after wiping.

WASH: Go and wash that body with soap. Stay safe, stay home.
